PaudurHill (Nepal) Raptor Migration Update 26Sept – Day 11

Eurasian Hobby

Weather is improving in last days. From yesterday we have hot shower in the centre. Weather was far better in 25th and mostly the sky was clear overhead however it was mostly cloudy over Annapurna Himalaya after 10:00. The wind was peaking up after 10:00 and reached the average speed of 7.5 km/hr. The migration was exciting in terms of species we are getting in the last two days. The highest numbers of migrants were Black Kites. Five new species of raptors (Booted Eagle, Indian Vulture, Short –toed Eagle, Long-legged Buzzard and Common Buzzard) were arrived in our watch site. Today morning was busy for small birds. Mostly Red-rumped Swallows were peaking before 8:00.  Over 100 Red-rumped were counted between 7:30 to 8:00. Numbers of Dragonflies are also increasing. Passerine migrants were Barn shallows, Red-rumped swallows and House swifts.
