PaudurHill (Nepal) Raptor Migration Update 21 Sept – Day 6

Weather: partly cloudy and rain after 16:30, South wind of average 5 km/hr

Mountain peaks were clear in the morning so most of the birds were passing from the northern slope of the watchsite. The cloud started to cover the peaks after 10:00 and most of the migrants came overhead. Flocking of House Swifts and Alpine Swifts was observed. Most Numerous migrating passerine were House Swift (62). Good numbers of White-rumped vulture were flocking and they were heading to the south and Southwest. I am wondering; were they migrating locally? Red-headed Vulture and Egyptian Vulture were seen most of the time. Few Black kites were flocking over the Annapurna and migrated early in the morning. Summary of migration is given in the table.
