PaudurHill (Nepal) Raptor Migration Update 20 Sept – Day 5

Today the weather was frequently changing and more challenging. In the morning hours there was a good view of Annapurna Himalaya Peak to the north and the sky was almost 50% cloudy. The cloud peaked up quickly after 9:00 am. Not only in the sky, thick cloud frequently covered the Hill slopes most of the time. Mostly the south wind of average speed 4.5 km beat the slope.
Couple of Eurasian Sparrow Hawk open the account early in the morning. Few Resident Black Kites were presenting all the day with the crowd of about 80 Large-billed Crow (now Mountain Crow). Like yesterday Oriental Honey Buzzard (OHB), Crested Serpent Eagle, Peregrine, Common Kestrel etc. were other raptor migrants. Beside this Red –headed Vulture, lone Bearded Vulture and Egyptian Vulture also seen in the watch site.
Among non-raptor migration of Barn Swallows is peaking up-- total of 78 swallows passed through the site. Single White-throated Needletail was also seen. Other migrants were House Swift, Alpine Swift and Sand Martin etc.  Couple of Yellow-throated Martin (mammals) were also observed along the bush near to the site.
At 14:00 the cloud totally covered the watchsite making it dark and had to pack up all the things. Now it is raining again ………….
